Technique Tuesday!

I am on the ball this month with uploading cards...we shall see if it continues! :-) I had a lot of fun coming up with cards for this month's class. We did a checkerboard card, wet watercolor crayon and a scallop flower!

Checkerboard Card

The Checkerboard card is pretty simple one to recreate. I got the idea from Stamp Owl's Studio The pages are 5 x 10 and scored at 2.5 inches. You lay one on top of the other and decorate. The link above has diagrams if you are confused on how this works. The stamp set I used is our new Fifth Avenue Floral!! I am not a flower type of girl and all three cards this month are FLOWERS!! I used the colors Baja Breeze, Close to Cocoa and Pink Pirouette.

Scalloped Flower!

The scallop flower was a challenge, but I love the results. I cut a strip of designer paper 1"x 12" (Sweet Slumber, which is cardstock thick!). I then used the scallop punch along the whole strip. I scored the valleys of the scallop, this was much easier than measuring and folding. Next you accordion fold the strip of paper. Adhere the ends together to make a circle. Holding the card stock with two hands you are going to twist one edge of the strip into the center to create a flower shape. Adhere a punched circle and a pop up glue dot to one or both sides (I did both sides). The stamp set used was the Congratulations set from the Sale-a-bration catalog. You can get it for FREE until March 31 with a $50 order OR at $300 workshop! Call or email me today to book your workshop! The stem of the flower is our 1/4" chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon, the leaves came from our sizzix sizzlets Birds and Blooms and the grass is just a strip of paper that is snipped and sponged.

Wet Watercolor Crayon

This is a fun card and so not my type of set, but I loved it! I got the idea for this card off of Splitcoast and incorporated the technique and different colors. The stamp set used is again another one you can get for FREE until March 31, Botanical Blooms! The technique is pretty simple. I stamped the outline image in Chocolate Chip ink, then for the inside part I colored directly on the solid stamp with watercolor crayons, spritzed lightly with water and stamped down onto watercolor paper. Colors used werebBarely Banana, Ruby Red, Mellow Moss and Chocolate Chip. We do not have Banana ribbon so I used Very Vanilla instead.

I hope you can join us next month for three more fabulous techniques!!!!

Happy Birthday Sophia!!

My stamping buddy Valerie's daughter Sophia had her birthday party this past weekend! It was a lot of fun. Cooper had a blast jumping in the bouncer and making pizza! I think his favorite part was the cupcakes though! Aren't they cute??

The card was made with some of my new toys and colors I don't normally use!

Paper was whisper white, perfect plum and pale plum. Ink was the same plus certainly celery. I also used the certainly celery ribbon from the Sale-a-bration catalog. The background to the card may be hard to see but it was dry embossed with Stampin' Up!'s exclusive texture plates. The flower is from the daisy Sixxiz Bigz Die. The Stamp sets were Bugs and Kisses and Birthday Greetings

NEW TOYS!!! YAY!

Blogger strikes again! UGH My photos are turned and I have yet to figure out why. They are right on my computer, wrong on here. So, you will have to look funny while you look at my new stamping toys! LOL

I place a big order and here it is!!! I was so excited to get all my fun toys. I bought two stamp sets and got 5 FREE!!! You read that right...FIVE! I bought Fifth Avenue Floral and Cheep Talk and since it is Sale-a-bration I got all four of those sets as well as the level one Comfort Foods set.

You will also see a cool Sizzix embosslit, Daisy Bigz Die, Texture Plates, Natural Serif Alphabet, Soft Subtles watercolor crayons (still collecting the colors). Not pictured is the Sweet Slumber and Good Morning Sunshine Decorative Paper! The Sweet Slumber is cardstock thick and very pretty! My order got big because I also had to add in a lot of paper from my past classes. Look out for some cool new cards and projects coming your way!

Stamping Supply Books!!

How cool are these books? I got the idea from the Yahoo Group Late Night Stampers. It is a cool book that keeps track of all of your stamping supplies. There are sections for stamps, punches, ink, tools, coloring tools, other supplies and favorite supplies. I made one for each of my club girls and my friend Jenene. If you would like your own personalized book all you have to do is host a workshop with sales of $300 or more, very easy this month and next with Sale-a-bration! Contact me today to get yours!!! I personalized each book with my clubber's favorite colors and can do the same for you...a very fun project for me to do!

I did mine in Old Olive, Pretty in Pink and Chocolate Chip!
Stamp sets were Eastern Blooms and Baroque Motifs.

The following were photographed before I finished them. I forgot to get the final pictures of them...so just imagine them all with tabs and ribbon. I think I forgot to get photographs of a few of the others. If you don't see your book that means I forgot to take a picture of it. I made all of these in the midst of a sprained knee.

Happy Stamping!!
